He said apart from various districts of Haryana, thousands of ‘kanwariyas’ from Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir have reached their destinations at Haridwar via Yamunanagar district. He added that elaborate arrangements had been made by the district police for a peaceful conduct of the yatra and to ensure the safety of ‘kanwariyas’.

“The routes to be taken by the ‘kanwariyas’ have been divided into five sectors. Along with this, the entry of heavy vehicles has been stopped on these routes,” said SP Bhoria.

He said DSP (Headquarters) Kanwaljit Singh had been made the nodal officer for the complete supervision of the yatra.

“If there is any problem or complaint related to the yatra, one can call the DSP on his mobile number 8818000104,” said SP Bhoria.

He added that the police had been deputed near camps (shivirs) set up by social and religious organisations for ‘kanwariyas’, so that there was no traffic bottleneck near the camps.

“Barricades will be put near the camps to check the speed of vehicles,” the SP said. He said two watch towers had been set up and police personnel equipped with binoculars had been deputed.

He added that apart from this, 10 cranes, nine ambulances, nine fire engines and six recovery vans would be available 24 hours to deal with any emergency situation. The SP said seven ERVs and 22 riders would patrol to ensure smooth running of the Kanwar Yatra.

He further said the riders equipped with Walkie-Talkie sets would patrol their respective areas.

The SP said 19 check posts had been set up to streamline the traffic movement. The entry of heavy vehicles had been completely banned at check post of Kalanaur.
