The Railway Protection Force (RPF) incharge of a chowki at Uklana in Hisar district was shot by three persons during patrol near the railway boundary this evening.

The injured sub-inspector, identified as Manish Sharma, suffered a bullet injury in the stomach and was taken to the civil hospital in Hisar. He later succumbed to the injury in hospital.

The police said the RPF received a tip-off about a scuffle near the railway track. As Manish and other personnel rushed to the spot, three youths opened fire. The police started investigation into the matter.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
