Rajnish Kumar, a local resident, said: “Since the community centres are in a poor condition, the residents are forced to book private banquet halls and hotels for small events. If the centres are renovated, the residents will hold events there and it will also help the municipal council in generating revenue. The council should also ensure proper security at the centres at night.”

The Executive Engineer of the council, Surender Kumar, said: “The project has been sent for final approval and we are expecting it to be sanctioned soon. After getting the approval, tenders will be floated and efforts will be made to execute the project at the earliest.”

Minister of State for Urban Local Bodies and Thanesar MLA Subhash Sudha said: “The Municipal Council will bear 35 per cent of the expenditure while the major share will be borne by the government. The objective behind renovating the community centres is to give better facilities to the residents. There is a plan to renovate the centres on the pattern of hotels.”
