Rs 26 crore to be spent on 160 projects in Thanesar

Minister of State of Urban Local Bodies and Thanesar MLA Subhash Sudha said the state government had approved a budget of Rs 26 crore for nearly 160 development works to be carried out in Thanesar.

The budget will be spent on rainwater drainage system, sewerage system, drains and roads under the limits of the Thanear Municipal Council. Of the total amount, nearly Rs 20 crore has been released for the Municipal Council.

As per the information, in a major relief for residents of Sector 13 and 7, the government has given the approval for the rainwater drainage project in both sectors.

Similarly, an approval has been granted for the construction of several roads and link roads that are in a deplorable condition and have been an ordeal for the residents and commuters.

As per the information, the road from Power Grid Chowk to Shri Krishna Ayurvedic University Chowk will be doubled. It will help in decongesting and reducing road accidents on the stretch. An amount of Rs 2.50 crore has been sanctioned by the state government for the road. Similarly, a road from the Shri Krishna Ayurvedic University Chowk to the Circuit House Chowk will be doubled. A budget of Rs 60 lakh has been approved for the construction of the road.

Besides these, a proposal has been sent for the administrative approval for the construction of 15 main roads in the city area. A budget of Rs 17 crore is to be spent on the construction of 15 roads, including Pipli Road to JIC Chowk via Dronacharya Stadium and DC camp office, the road separating Sectors 2 and 5, Sectors 4 and 5, Jindal Chowk to Pipli Road, Red Cross Road, Bhagwan Parshuram College Road and Gymkhana Club Road.

Sudha said, “Projects related to construction of the roads, drains, sewerage system and rainwater drainage system were sent to the government for which it has approved a budget of Rs 26 crore. While, the government has already released a budget of Rs 20 crore for the projects, the remaining budget of Rs 6 crore is expected to be received soon. While the approvals for nearly 160 projects have been granted, some related to the construction of roads are yet to get the approval and we are hopeful that the pending developmental projects will also get the approval soon. The MC will begin the work after getting the required permissions.”
