Rs 70 cr for infra upgrade in Sonepat

A budget of around Rs 70 crore was unanimously approved to carry out various development works in the wards of the city at the Finance and Contract Committee (F&CC) meeting of the local Municipal Corporation (MC) held here today.

Mayor Nikhil Madaan chaired the meeting, while MC Commissioner Vishram Kumar Meena, Joint Commissioner Ankita Verma, Senior Deputy Mayor Rajiv Saroha, Deputy Mayor Manjeet Gahlawat, finance committee Vice-President Surender Madaan and Member Surender Nayyar, along with officials of the engineering wing, were present at the meeting.

Sewerage lines of 2 areas to be replaced

  • Mayor Nikhil Madaan said a budget of Rs 50 crore had been approved under which the main work of sewerage lines of Khanna Colony and Hem Nagar in Ward-3 would be replaced at a cost of Rs 90 lakh.
  • MC Commissioner Vishram Kumar Meena said the responsibility of the engineering wing would be fixed to carry out various works at the earliest

The Mayor said a budget of Rs 50 crore had been approved under which the main work of the sewerage lines of Khanna Colony and Hem Nagar in Ward 3 would be replaced at a cost of Rs 90 lakh. Apart from this, development works would be carried out in the Wards 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 16, 17, 18, 19 and 20 and maximum streets and paths would be constructed with the CC and interlocking tiles.

The Mayor further said that the streets of the Jeewan Vihar in Ward 5 would be constructed with interlocking tiles.

A gymnasium would be constructed at Raipur village at a cost of Rs 55 lakh. Sewerage lines would be laid at Rai village, Liwan village, and a storm line at Liwan village. The passage to the railway station in Jagdishpur village would be constructed at a cost of Rs 54 lakh.

Ponds would be cleaned and rejuvenated in Rathdhana, Jat Joshi villages and a new park would be developed near the Shiv temple in Rathdhana village.

New sewerage lines would be laid in Kabirpur, Jeewan Nagar, New Jeewan Nagar and Shadipur and all streets would be constructed with a latest technology in Tara Nagar at a cost of Rs 1.37 crore. Apart from this, scores of development works for various wards were approved at the committee meeting, the Mayor added.

MC Commissioner Vishram Kumar Meena said Rs 70 crore had been approved for all the development works in the finance and contract committee today. Now, the responsibility of the engineering wing would be fixed to carry out these works at the earliest on the ground, the Commissioner added.
