Rs. 7L challans imposed during Kanwar Yatra

The traffic police imposed a penalty of Rs 7.9 lakh for the violation of traffic rules during the recently concluded Kanwar Yatra in the city.
A spokesperson of the Police Department said as many as 79 heavy vehicles were challaned by between July 22 and August 2. He said the offenders were penalised for entering into zones prohibited for such vehicles during the yatra.
Meanwhile, police personnel, including the members of the Home Guards and SPOs, who were posted for traffic management during the Kanwar Yatra were honoured with appreciation certificates by the DCP and the ACP (traffic) on Saturday for ‘excellent’ work during this period, said the spokesperson.
