The work on projects worth around Rs900 crore lying suspended due to ban on construction that came into force soon after Diwali are back on track after the ban was partially lifted on Monday.

The construction activity has been allowed between 6 am and 6 pm by the Supreme Court, which had ordered the ban to curb pollution.

“The work on a large number of projects, which were stalled due to the ban, is likely to be completed quickly now,” said a senior district official, adding that while the list of such projects was long and had been handled separately by various departments, the total cost of these projects was in several hundred crore.

Smart city

Revealing that the projects worth about Rs591 crore had been held up due to the ban, NK Katara, a senior official of the Faridabad Smart City Limited, said the affected projects included construction and upgrade of road network, which included cabling civic infrastructure and street lights, worth Rs325 crore, work of setting up of the Rs159.40 crore ICCC (Integrated Command Control Centre) to provide CCTV surveillance and smart traffic solution in the city, design, construction an installation of the sewage treatment plant for Badkhal lake at a cost of Rs22.49 crore, smart road worth Rs42 crore, civic infrastructure in Fatehpur Chandila village and Sant Nagar locality worth Rs16.54 crore.

MC works

Projects worth around Rs100 crore are also being carried out by the municipal corporation (MC). These include construction of its head office in Sector 12, Nahar Singh stadium, hospital building in old Faridabad and peripheral road.

HSVP projects

Several projects worth over Rs100 crore are being carried out by the Haryana Sahri Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP). These include construction of two nursing colleges, industrial sector civic renovation, parking slots in Sector 12 and indoor stadium at Sector 31.

PWD works

Faridabad XEN Rahul Singh said several projects including bridge over the Yamuna, colleges and roads worth about Rs100 crore were underway.
