Ambala, June 26
A mini-marathon ‘Run against drugs’ was organised by the Ambala police on the occasion of International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking in Ambala City today.
Superintendent of Police Jashandeep Singh Randhawa flagged off the 4-km long marathon covering Jail Land, Old Sessions Court, Polytechnic Chowk, Arya Chowk and Police Lines.
A total of 400 police personnel, including SHOs, in-charges of various cells and other policemen participated in the rally.
On this occasion, Randhawa said” “A mini marathon was organised to make people aware about drug abuse. The Ambala police have also tightened noose around drug peddlers. Over five months, 57 cases under the NDPS Act have been registered, for which 71 have been put behind bars.” He also appealed to the public to help the department in the campaign against drug abuse.
Similarly, a cycle rally was organised in Kurukshetra against the menace. Additional Superintendent of Police P Karan Goyal led the cycle rally. A total of 150 police personnel participated in the rally.
