He ordered disciplinary action against the guilty in case of any contract enhancement done on account of the preparation of faulty estimates. Those found guilty would face a chargesheet as well as compulsory retirement.

The CM was presiding over a meeting of the Cabinet Sub-Committee related to the Public Works (Building and Roads) Department here today. He said procedural lapses would not be tolerated in developmental projects. Those found guilty would face chargesheet proceedings and might also be subjected to compulsory retirement, he said.

Reviewing the progress of the projects, Saini said if additional work was required, prior approval must be obtained to avoid unauthorised contract enhancements. He directed the department to ensure that all tender documents for developmental projects included complete structural designs. Furthermore, the inclusion of non-scheduled items should be minimised to promote greater transparency.

He said the state government remained committed to ensuring transparency. He also reviewed various projects and issued necessary directives to the officers concerned.
