The Deputy Commissioner felicitated three top-performing girl students of Class X of Samchana village — Komal, Bhawna, and Neha — with cash prizes of Rs 75,000, Rs 45,000, and Rs 30,000 respectively during the event.

Gupta pointed out that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had launched the Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao campaign from Haryana itself.

He stated that the villages with low sex ratio are under strict administrative vigilance. “Strict legal action is being taken against those involved in illegal foetal sex-determination,” he said, adding that all officers concerned in the district have been instructed to discharge their duties ethically to help improve the sex ratio.

The Deputy Commissioner appealed to the villagers to report any information related to female foeticide to the authorities so that strict action could be taken against those involved in such heinous acts. He expressed hope that Samchana would continue to maintain its improved sex ratio in future and that other villages would take inspiration from it.

The Rohtak Civil Surgeon, Dr Ramesh Chander Arya, provided detailed information about the scheme and appealed to the villagers to cooperate in improving the sex ratio.

Health Department initiative

The Best Village Award scheme has been launched by the Health Department under the Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao campaign. The award is given to the village that records the highest sex ratio in the district. The scheme applies to villages with a population of more than 5,000. Three girl students of the village who have achieved the first three positions in Class X are given cash prizes of Rs75,000, Rs 45,000 and Rs 30,000, respectively.
