A delegation of the Rajkiya Prathmik Shikshak Sangh, led by district president Vijay Sharma, met with Deputy Commissioner Shantanu Sharma to raise concerns about the increasing burden of non-teaching duties on primary school teachers recently.

The delegation said these additional responsibilities, especially BLO (Booth Level Officer) work, were affecting academic performance and enrolment in government primary schools.

The Deputy Commissioner listened to the delegation, and immediately called the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) to address the issue.

The delegation then presented their case in detail before the SDM.

Both officials agreed with the concerns raised and assured the delegation that the BLO lists would be revised within the next two-three days.

They promised to reduce the number of primary teachers assigned to BLO duties and ensure that teaching in schools was not hampered.

The union said if the lists were not revised by June 20, they would decide on their next course of action.

Other members in the delegation included district senior vice-president Prem Bose, treasurer Surender, vice-president Sitaram and executive member Puneet.
