Sanitation drives launched at Thanesar, Pehowa in Kurukshetra
To improve the sanitary condition, cleanliness drives have been launched in Thanesar and Pehowa subdivisions of Kurukshetra on Tuesday.
In Thanesar, the campaign has been launched from Ward 1 of the city by former minister of State Subhash Sudha, District Municipal Commissioner Aman Kumar and officials of the Thanesar Municipal Council.
The official said there were 32 wards under the municipal council in Thanesar and a 21-member committee would be formed in each ward by the municipal councilors concerned.
Former Minister of State Subhash Sudha said to improve the sanitary condition and ensure that the campaign was conducted in a smooth manner, a 21-member committee would be formed in each ward. The residents will be included in the campaign so that the target of making Kurukshetra a clean city can be achieved.
The BJP leader and the officials of the municipal council participated in the drive near Bhadrakali Temple in Ward1, and also administered oath to the citizens to participate in the campaign.
Subhash Sudha appealed to the citizens of Ward 1 to contribute to making every street and environment of the ward clean. “If no citizen throws household waste on the roads and intersections, then this ward will definitely become clean. A complete plan has been prepared to make Kurukshetra clean. All shopkeepers should keep dustbins outside their establishments. Apart from this, as per the government’s order, dairies inside the city will be shifted outside,” she said.
Similarly, in Pehowa, a cleanliness drive was launched under the Swachh Kurukshetra Mera Kurukshetra-Mera Abhiman campaign, which will continue till November 7.
SDM Pehowa Abhinav Siwach, who led the campaign, said a campaign has been launched to make the Pehowa subdivision clean and beautiful. Under the drive, the SDM, along with the officials and sanitation workers, went to Saraswati Ghat, Tehsil premises and Bar Complex on Tuesday and participated in the cleanliness drive. On the occasion, he appealed to the public not to let garbage accumulate. The administration has installed dustbins at various places and more dustbins will be made available at the required locations.
On August 24, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini had launched an 11-week-long cleanliness drive under the Swachh Kurukshetra, Mera Kurukshetra-Mera Abhiyan programme of the district administration. The CM had also unveiled a poster of the Abhiyan and administered the oath of cleanliness to the citizens and officials of Kurukshetra to formally launch the 11-week cleanliness mission from August 24 to November 7 as part of the Haryana Shahar Swachhta Mission 2025.
