Sanitisers available at mask sale counter

Karnal: A counter for the sale of disposable masks was started at the mini-secretariat on Thursday by the district administration with the help of a women self-help group. It was inaugurated by DC Nishant Kumar Yadav. He said women of the self-help group would sell the masks which have been priced at Rs 7 each. One person is allowed to purchase a maximum of five masks. He said 12 members of the group were preparing these masks. They have been asked to produce 1 lakh masks in the coming days. He said that they have arranged the stock of sanitisers at this sale counter. A 100 ml sanitiser would be sold for Rs 30 at this counter. This step will help in curbing black-marketing of both items, he added. The DC said that three more similar centres will be opened soon at different locations.

MLA reviews arrangements

Karnal: Gharaunda MLA Harvinder Kalyan on Saturday visited the isolation ward of the civil hospital and checked the preparedness to tackle Covid. He appealed to the people not to panic, but to take precautions to curtail the spread of Covid. He also urged the people who came from abroad in the past 28 days to get themselves checked at the hospital. The MLA was informed that isolation wards have been set up at the Civil Hospital as well as the KCGMC.

Social outfits to admn’s aid

Rewari: A special campaign of the district administrative authority to collect funds and other essential things from people for combating the Covid epidemic has started bearing fruit with several social outfits and industrial units coming forward to contribute to the campaign. Sarvodaya Infracon Private Limited has donated Rs 5 lakh, Rewari Bagwan Parsuram Sabha and Rewari Jat Sabha have contributed Rs 1 lakh each while social outfit Ready to Help (RTH) has provided 500 masks to the district authority. Notably, Deputy Commissioner Yashendra Singh, ADC Rahul Hooda, all HCS officers and officers of Health Department posted in the district have donated their one-day salary to the disaster relief fund set up for the purpose.

Police teams constituted

Sonepat: Besides constituting a disaster management committee of officers, under the command of Deputy Commissioner Anshaj Singh, to deal with any emergency situation arising due to Covid, special teams each of five young police personnel have been formed at every police station in the district. They will assist the health authorities to bring unwilling suspected cases of Covid for testing to the hospitals. Ten such police teams have also been kept in reserve at the local Police Lines. Telephone no. 0130-2221500 has been provided at the Civil Hospital control room to give information about suspected cases of Covid.

Take precaution, don’t panic

Kaithal: Nayab Singh Saini, Kurukshetra MP, appealed to the people on Saturday to follow the advice given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said that there was no reason to panic but precaution was needed to face Covid. He said that any shopkeeper found indulging in unfair business activities would face strict legal action. He clarified that there was no shortage of commodities in the country but we should avoid panic buying of essentials. He said that the disease had already spread all over the world so we should remain alert and follow the guidelines issued by national health authorities from time to time. Later accompanied by local MLA Leela Ram, MP Saini visited local civil hospital and got first hand information about arrangements made by health department to meet the Covid threat.

Cops carry out cleanliness drive

Kaithal: The police employees all over the district carried on a cleanliness drive in police stations and police posts under their respective jurisdictions recently. The police personnel were motivated by SP Shashank Kumar Sawan to carry on cleanliness drive in their respective areas so that they could work in a neat and clean environment. During this campaign, they removed garbage and uprooted wild growth in the vicinity of their offices and workplaces. At some places, the staff planted saplings. Earlier also, such drives had been undertaken by policemen. The drive will continue every Sunday as per information provided by the spokesman.
