Gurugram, May 29

Sanitisers are being sold at hardware, meat and book shops since a licence is not required for the sale of products in the ayurvedic and cosmetic categories. The Drug Control Department conducted raided a number of hardware stores on Thursday and seized sanitisers in the ayurvedic, cosmetic and drug categories.

“You need a licence to sell sanitisers in the drug category. No licence is required for the other two categories. The product should be sourced from a licensed manufacturer, with label mentioning ingredients and date of expiry. There are conditions for storing sanitisers,” said Amandeep Chauhan, Drug Controller.

“People should buy sanitisers only from authorised stores or licensed manufacturers. The departments concerned need to maintain a check on the manufacture and sale of spurious sanitisers,” said Dr JS Punia, Civil Surgeon.
