Scheduled Castes panel reviews 70 cases in Sirsa, orders police reports

The Haryana State Scheduled Castes Commission, led by Chairman Ravindra Baliala, held a public hearing and review meeting on Friday at the Panchayat Bhawan in Sirsa.

The commission reviewed 58 cases registered under the SC/ST Act, and heard 15 additional complaints during the session. Several of the complainants raised concerns over delays or lack of proper investigation by the police. Responding to this, the commission directed the officials concerned to submit detailed reports. In one such case, pertaining to the Civil Lines police station, the complainant expressed dissatisfaction with police action, prompting the commission to demand a full report.

In another case, pertaining to the Rania police station, officials have been given 15 days to submit a complete investigation report. Similarly, in an assault case filed at the Sirsa police station, a report has been requested following the complainant’s testimony. Baliala said the commission was committed to protecting the rights of Scheduled Castes and ensuring timely justice. “We reviewed each case carefully, and the district and police administrations extended full cooperation,” he said. Officials have been asked to submit follow-up reports without delay.

DC Shantanu Sharma, Sirsa SP Mayank Gupta, Dabwali SP Nikita Khattar, Zila Parishad CEO Subhash Chandra and Vice-Chairman Virendra Badgurjar were among the attendees of the hearing.
