Science conclave begins at Kurukshetra varsity
A two-day science conclave on the topic “World of Science and Technology” began at Kurukshetra University on Tuesday.
The conclave is being organised by Kurukshetra University in collaboration with the Haryana State Council of Science, Innovation and Technology.
Vice-Chancellor Som Nath Sachdeva said science and technology had a key role to play in achieving the target of Viksit Bharat-2047.
The path for India to become an economic superpower was science, technology and research, he added, stating that young minds should be curious, logical thinkers and creative in the field of science and technology.
Only then could they make a remarkable contribution to Viksit Bharat through innovation, he said.
“Because of curiosity, logical thinking and creativity, Dr CV Raman made India proud by becoming the first Asian and Indian scientist to have received a Nobel prize. Similarly, Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, known as the Missile Man of India, played an important role in nuclear testing,” he added.
The keynote speaker of the inaugural session, Prof Ranjana Aggarwal, KU alumnus and Director, CSIR-National Institute of Science Communication and Policy Research, New Delhi, said the dream of a developed India could be realised with the advancement of scientific approach. National Education Policy was based on four principles in which a student received education through teachers, self-study, learning with peer groups and experience, Aggarwal added.
She called upon students to be curious individuals. On this occasion, the souvenir of the two-day conclave was released by the dignitaries present. Prof Sanjeev Arora, conclave co-patron and Dean of Sciences, said the objective of the programme was to provide a platform to young minds to explore various branches of science and technology.
Conclave convener and Physics Department Head Prof Rajesh Kharab presented the outline of the conclave.
An exhibition on the topic “Vision of Developed India” was organised at Crush Hall.
Registrar Dr Virendra Pal, Dean (Academic Affairs) Prof Dinesh Kumar and Prof SP Singh were among those present at the event.
