A programme on the topic “Harnessing Science for a Self-reliant and Sustainable Viksit Bharat-2047” was organised on the occasion of National Science Day at Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University (HAU), Hisar, on Friday. Vice-Chancellor BR Kamboj was the chief guest, while Dr Devender Kumar, former Professor, Dean (Academic Affairs) and Nodal Officer (National Education Policy-2020), Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology, was the keynote speaker at the event.
This programme was organised jointly by HAU Science Forum, Institution Innovation Council (IIC) and Vigyan Bharti, Hisar. The Vice-Chancellor, in his address, said science and technology would play an important role in making India a developed nation. He said it was important to use science and innovation in the right direction to ensure self-reliance and sustainable development. For this, researchers and scientists would have to work in coordination with each other, he said, adding that teachers played an important role in awakening curiosity and enthusiasm for science in students.
The VC said students should take inspiration from the life of Nobel Prize winner CV Raman, in whose honour National Science Day was celebrated every year.
Dr Kumar, highlighting the New Education Policy, said there was a need to work by focusing on knowledge, research and innovation. He gave information about new courses as part of the programme. He said technology could make a significant contribution in the field of education.
He said it was is India-centric, and focussed on all-round development, holistic education, skill development, employment generation to foster a knowledge-based society.
Quiz, model and poster competitions were organised for students at the school and college level.
