Scientists at Shri Krishna Ayush University, Kurukshetra, claim to identify herbs to fight Covid

Scientists of Shri Krishna Ayush University have claimed to identify two ayurvedic herbs that can fight the Covid virus.

They have applied for patents on the tablet and syrup formulations of ‘sugandha bala’ and ‘khus’ medicinal plants.

As per the university, Dr Rajni Kant and his team of the Research and Innovation Department of the university have claimed to identify medicinal plants ‘sugandha bala’ and ‘khus’, traditionally used in the treatment of other diseases, have shown antivirus activity against the SARS-Cov-2 (coronavirus) strain. Both plants could be helpful in the treatment and prevention of Covid in future, the scientists said. A team of Dr Rajni Kant, and Dr Naveen Kumar, Principal Research Scientist, National Institute of Equine Virology Laboratory, was constituted by Vice Chancellor Dr Baldev Kumar. The pre-clinical investigation of 12 medicinal plants was done by the team on the SARS-Cov-2 strain. The research work was supported by Dr Manish Kumar, Dr Preeti, Aditi Sharma and Rahul Gupta.
