'Scolded’, 2 students stab Hisar school director to death

The director of a private school, who was also a mathematics teacher, was stabbed to death allegedly by two students at Bass village in Narnaund subdivision of Hisar district on Thursday. He had reportedly scolded the students over indiscipline.

The victim, Jagbir Pannu, was rushed to a private hospital in Hisar, where he succumbed to his injuries. The incident took place around 10. 30 am at Kartar Memorial Senior Secondary School in Bass village.

Among the two suspects, one is a student of Class XII while the other studies in Class XI. Both students fled from the spot after the incident. They also uploaded a video on social media issuing threats and mentioning an amount of Rs 10 lakh. However, it is unclear whom the threats were directed at.

According to the complainant, Vijender — brother of the deceased and principal of the school — Jagbir was upset for the past some time as he was being threatened by the two students. The complainant said Jagbir had reprimanded the students over indiscipline in the school. The parents of the students had also been informed about their behaviour.

The complainant said Jagbir had also informed him about the threats from the two students after which he told him that the issue would be taken up with their parents and that he should not worry about it.

He said around 10.30 am today, the two students approached Jagbir, and after a brief conversation, one of them held him while the other stabbed him multiple times in his abdomen. The students fled from the spot, leaving the knife behind.

The injured was rushed to a hospital in Hisar, where he died.

DSP Ravinder Sangwan said the motive behind the attack was still unclear. The police were questioning the school staff and other students. He said an FIR had been registered, and efforts were being made to detain the suspects.
