The police have arrested the chairman of Panipat based Royal Star Security Agency for the alleged misappropriation of the PF amount of Rs 80 lakh belonging to 88 employees of the Sonepat Central Cooperative Bank and its 38 branches in the district.
A case was registered against the accused, Mukesh of Waalpur in Panipat district, at city police station on the complaint of Ramesh Punia, managing director of the bank, on June 15, 2018.
In the complaint, it was alleged that the agency was given a two-year contract on August 1, 2014, to recruit computer operators, clerks, sevadars and security personnel in the bank and its branches. The contract was revised on March 2, 2017, for further two years.
It was further submitted that the employees recruited by the agency lodged complaints with the bank authorities, alleging that the agency had not deposited the PF and ESI instalments in their accounts. Notices were issued to the agency to reply on the complaints, but to no avail.
According to Balwan Singh, investigating officer, Mukesh was produced in a local court on Saturday and was sent to two-day police custody for further probe in the case. —OC
