An additional company of the Rapid Action Force (RAF) arrived in Kaithal on Tuesday, strengthening the existing forces deployed in the area. Four companies of paramilitary forces, along with 10 police units, are already stationed at 15 strategic checkpoints along the Punjab border in Kaithal. Alongside border surveillance, the police are closely monitoring the movement of local farmers. Senior officials visited these checkpoints to assess the situation. “Currently, the situation is under control and peaceful. We are maintaining vigil at all checkpoints and tracking farmer movements. The arrival of an additional RAF company will further fortify our position,” said Upasana, Superintendent of Police (SP), Kaithal.
Meanwhile, the Karnal police have also intensified surveillance on NH-44. Stringent measures have been put in place to maintain law and order and prevent any untoward incident along the highway. “We are fully prepared to handle law and order situation. Seven companies, including four from the police force, have been deployed at strategic locations for surveillance,” said Shashank Kumar Sawan, SP, Karnal. The police presence has also been increased near the Karna Lake on NH-44 with barricades, concrete slabs, and barbed wires.
In contrast to the Punjab farmers’ call, the Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) has announced a protest at all the BJP district offices on Wednesday, prompting the police to make arrangements accordingly.
