Probe launched

  • A gate on road leading to Punjab Bhawan and Haryana Niwas was locked on Wednesday night
  • The convoy of minister ML Khattar and Haryana CM Saini halted for 15 minutes
  • Saini expressed alarm over the incident, stating that the gate should not have been closed
  • Chandigarh Police and Haryana intel agencies have initiated separate probes into incident

Both leaders were en route to Haryana Niwas in Sector 3 when their motorcade was forced to stop. Speaking to the media on Friday, CM Saini recounted the incident, stating, “At 11 pm on Wednesday, we had to remain parked for 15 minutes while travelling from the Haryana Chief Minister’s residence to Haryana Niwas. The gate on the road in front of Punjab Bhawan was locked. This is the same road that leads directly to Haryana Niwas, located adjacent to Punjab Bhawan.”

Expressing concern over the situation, Saini added, “The gate should not have been closed. I was informed that Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann had ordered the deployment of guards at Punjab Bhawan. However, the road should have remained open, as VVIPs may require access at any hour.” The gate was eventually opened after the Saini’s security personnel called the guard on duty.
