Targeting the Opposition, Urban Local Bodies Minister and Faridabad MLA Vipul Goel claimed that parties like the Congress had made security personnel a symbol of stature and power rather than need, and the recent withdrawal of security was not a case of political vendetta.

“Why does everything need to be politicised? Other than politics, the state functions on many pillars, which includes law and order. Security cover is a part of it and a need-based review and rationalisation is being done,” he said.

Goel was in Faridabad today to inaugurate infrastructure projects in areas like Baadh Mohalla. Calling Old Faridabad the essence of the city, he said the priority was to ensure infrastructural and growth parity.

He said construction of the long-pending community hall at the Valmiki Temple complex had commenced at an estimated cost of Rs 52 lakh. He assured that if additional funds were required, the government would make necessary provisions to ensure that the residents got a modern, well-equipped and functional community facility.
