Several farmers from Mayna, Kheri Sadh and Pehrawar villages met former minister and BJP state spokesman Krishan Murti Hooda here on Saturday to voice their concerns regarding the compensation for crop losses. They urged him to bring their plight to the attention of Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini.

“The farmers reported extensive losses to their rabi crop last year due to hailstorms, rain and strong winds. They claimed that despite informing the insurance company within the required time frame about the same, they have not received any compensation,” said Krishan Murti Hooda, adding that the farmers had been repeatedly visiting the local Agriculture Department office and the insurance company over the past several months but to no avail.

The former minister assured the farmers that he would soon meet the CM, requesting that agriculture officials be directed to ensure the release of compensation to the affected farmers.

“I will also talk to officials of the insurance firm to understand the issues causing delays in compensating the farmers for their crop losses,” said Krishan Murti, adding that he would also discuss this issue during a meeting with farmers that is to be held in Makrauli Kalan village here on February 16.
