Investigation has revealed that the hand grenades seized from the possession of 'terrorist' Abdul Rehman, who is in police remand till March 13, are suspected to be indigenous. A member of the team that defused the hand grenade said it bore no identification of any country, or the person who made it.

“The name of a country is written on foreign hand grenades and weapons, but nothing like that was found on the hand grenade recovered from Rehman. According to police sources, the hand grenade came from a Naxal-affected area in Jharkhand, which is also under the scanner,” said an investigator.

Meanwhile, the bank accounts of Rehman and his family members have been checked by the Special Task Force (STF) team. Only Rs 7,000 was found in Rehman's account, and Rs 15,000 in his father’s account. However, Rs 1.60 lakh were deposited in his mother's account. Rehman claimed that since his family was poor, he had to collect donations for his treatment. The STF is investigating how this money came into his mother's account.

The STF also found out that his father owned 15 biswa land at Majnai village of Ayodhya. Rehman and his four brothers have a share in this land. His chicken shop has been the main source of income for the family. During investigation, the STF also suspects that Rehman, who had come to Faridabad to get hand grenades, had come via train from Jharkhand.
