The Haryana Federation of University and College Teachers Organisations (HFUCTO) has raised an objection to the continuation of the selection process of faculty members at state universities despite the imposition of the model code of conduct with the announcement of Assembly poll.
“Complaints regarding the authorities of different universities across the state continuing the selection process, including screening and interviews, have been received from the teachers’ associations and faculty members of those universities,” said HFUCTO president Vikas Siwach.Meanwhile, eyebrows are also being raised over seven assistant professors being made to join service at the University Institute of Engineering and Technology, MDU, in a haste on Friday, the day on which the model code of conduct came into force.
“Two of the candidates selected for the job are close relatives of MDU professors, one of whom is a top functionary at the UIET and the other is head of the university teaching department,” said Gaurav Budhwar, state secretary of the National Students Union of India (NSUI).
The selection process is still on at JC Bose University of Science and Technology, YMCA, Faridabad; Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology, Hisar; Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak; Gurugram University, Gurugram; and Indira Gandhi University, Meerpur (Rewari).
