Sirsa MP Kumari Selja launched an attack on the BJP on Saturday, accusing the party of being anti-Dalit, anti-farmer and anti-citizen. Addressing Congress workers at the Congress Bhawan, she highlighted the BJP's undemocratic behaviour in Parliament and their attempts to suppress the Opposition's voice.

Selja stated, “The world is watching how our Parliament functions. The Opposition wants to raise people’s issues, but the ruling party prevents sessions from running smoothly. Without the Opposition, democracy cannot survive.”

She praised the Congress for ensuring equal representation while drafting the Constitution. “When the Constitution was being written, the Congress included leaders from all religions and communities. Even Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, whom the BJP considers its leader, was part of it. Dr Ambedkar was chosen to head the effort because of his vision of equality,” she said.

Selja condemned the BJP for disrespecting Dr Ambedkar, calling it an insult to the nation. “Ambedkar is revered like a God, but the BJP leaders mock him. We consider the Constitution sacred, but they don’t respect it. They often ask what the Congress did in 60 years. I’ll tell them: we built the nation, gave people their rights and created the Constitution,” she added.

She also accused Home Minister Amit Shah of insulting Ambedkar. “We will go to every village and expose the BJP’s anti-Constitution face. When we protested near Ambedkar’s statue in Parliament, the BJP leaders tried to stop us. They even pushed thw Congress leaders like Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi. This shows how desperate they are to hide the truth,” she said.

Selja criticised the BJP for dividing people based on caste and religion, saying it goes against Ambedkar’s vision of equality. She also highlighted the government’s failure to support farmers. “The farmers were promised help, but instead, they are met with the police’s brutality. Their leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal’s health is worsening, but the government doesn’t care. The Haryana-Punjab border now looks like the India-Pakistan border because of the BJP’s policies,” she remarked.

Rajya Sabha MP Randeep Singh Surjewala echoed Selja’s concerns. “Ambedkar fought for equality and justice for all, not just the Dalits. The BJP’s actions disrespect his legacy and widen the gap between rich and poor. Insulting Ambedkar is like insulting the entire nation,” he said.

Both leaders vowed to fight against the BJP “anti-people” policies and take their message to every household. Selja concluded, “We will continue to raise our voices for the farmers, for equality and for saving democracy.”
