A few days after several leaders left the Congress party, Sirsa MP Kumari Selja urged party leaders to stay united and work together to secure victory in the upcoming elections.

She acknowledged that while some left for personal reasons or under pressure, Congress had given them an identity. "It is their personal choice, but Congress workers are dedicated and are treating this election as their own and are contesting with full dedication. It is now up to the people to bring change," Selja said, addressing media at Congress mayoral candidate Manoj Wadhwa’s election office in Karnal, where she was campaigning.

She avoided commenting on former Haryana Congress in-charge Deepak Babaria departure and acknowledged the party’s missed opportunity in last election. “We all saw how a winning battle slipped away. Everyone believed that Congress would come to power in Haryana. We now have a new in-charge, who is senior and experienced. With his leadership, we will move forward and strengthen Congress,” she added.

Responding to a question related to some of her close aides who had left the party, Selja dismissed any personal loss, saying, "For me, all Congress leaders are close. Those who remain in Congress are part of the party, and Congress has given them recognition."

When asked about the possibility of a change in Haryana Congress leadership, she declined to comment, saying, "This is a decision of the high command. I will not make any remarks on this."

Selja also congratulated Delhi's new CM Rekha Gupta, wishing her the best as a fellow Haryana native. On the party’s future strategy, Selja assured that the party’s organisation would be given due importance. "There was a high-level meeting yesterday regarding this. Moving forward, we will work collectively with the new in-charge to strengthen the party."

Launching a sharp attack on the BJP government, Selja said despite Karnal being the CM’s city, it has failed to witness significant development. She emphasised that several deficiencies remain, and the city continues to grapple with corruption and misgovernance.

“There have been multiple scams in Karnal and residents continue to suffer due to a lack of basic amenities. Roads are in poor condition, clean drinking water remains a challenge, and residents are facing daily hardships. Government offices are flooded with complaints, yet no solutions are being provided.” he added.
