Kaithal, February 4
Congress leader Kumari Selja and party Rajya Sabha MP Randeep Singh Surjewala today launched a scathing attack on central and state governments over unemployment and inflation.
They were addressing the ‘Congress Sandesh Yatra’ reached Kaithal district on Sunday. The Congress leaders also highlighted issues being faced by farmers, labourers and traders, and “deteriorating law and order condition” across the state.
Congress Haryana in-charge Deepak Babaria, who was to attend the yatra in Kaithal, gave it a miss. Tosham MLA Kiran Choudhary also did not attend the yatra.
Selja said the BJP came to power on the basis of false promises, but Congress leaders Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi stand with truth. “Some people suggested them that they should also get power by lying like BJP, but Kharge and Rahul rejected the idea of lying,” she said.
She highlighted Gandhi’s ‘Bharat Jodo Nyaya Yatra’, and emphasised on the need for justice for every individual in the society.
Surjewala said unemployment and inflation were rising and the central and the state governments were sitting as mute spectators. “They (BJP govts) promised to double farmers’ income, but nothing was done.”
“The BJP government also had failed to fulfil its promise of generating 2 crore jobs,” said Surjewala.
Corruption ‘rampant’ in state
Kurukshetra: Law and order situation has deteriorated under the BJP-JJP rule in the state and corruption has become rampant, Congress leader Kumari Selja said at Pehowa on Sunday, as she urged voters to elect Congress candidates in the state’s all 10 Lok Sabha seats. She was addressing a public meeting organised as part of the ‘Congress Sandesh Yatra’. Besides, she slammed the government for lack of job opportunities in Haryana. TNS
