Seminar on Urdu journalism

Chandigarh, November 22
The Haryana Urdu Akademi organised a seminar on “contribution of non-Musilim journalists to Urdu journalism” at Panchkula on Friday.
Keynot speaker Zia-ur Rehman Siddiqui, professor from Aligarh Muslim University, traced the history of Urdu journalism before and after Independence.
Earlier, Akademi director Chander Trikha, while welcoming the guests, said the seminar was part of the series of events being organised for the promotion of Urdu language in the region.
Additional Chief Secretary (Housing) Dhanpat Singh was the chief guest, while Director General (State Vigilance Bureau) KP Singh presided over the function. Vice-chairman of the Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi, Madhav Kaushik and senior journalist NS Parwana were the guests of honour.
