Sensitive booths identified in Thanesar, Ismailabad
As the campaigning for the civic body elections has gathered pace, the district administration is making all its preparations to ensure conduction of smooth elections.
In the Thanesar Municipal Council, the election will be held for the post of chairperson of the Municipal Council and municipal councillors. Of 32 wards, the election of councillors will be held in 30 wards after the councillors of two wards (7 and 32) have been elected uncontested.
In the Ladwa Municipal Committee, the election for the post of councillor in Ward11 was to be held but the councillor was elected uncontested. In Ismailabad Municipal Committee, the byelection for the post of president is to be held.
For the election of the Thanesar Municipal Council, 108 polling booths have been setup by the administration, of which, 40 have been identified as sensitive booths.
As per the information shared, booth numbers 4, 5, 6 and 7 at Janta Senior Secondary School in Ward 2, booth numbers 16, 17, and 18 at Navyug Senior Secondary School in Ward 6, booths numbers 20, 21 and 22 at Government Primary School in Ward 7, booth number 29 and 30 at Government Senior Secondary School Pipli in Ward 10, booth numbers 35,36, and 37 at Government Senior Secondary School, Devidaspura, in Ward 12, and booth numbers 49, 50, 51 and 52 of Government Middle School, Ratgal, and Government model Sanskriti Primary School, Ratgal, in Ward 16 have been included in the list of sensitive booths.
Similarly, booth numbers 60, 61 and 62 at Government Girls High School in Ward19, booth numbers 84 and 85 at University Model Senior Secondary school in Ward 26, booth number 86 in Ward 27, booth numbers 90 and 91 in Ward 28, booth numbers 94,95,96 and 97 in Ward 31, and booth numbers 102, 103, 104 and 105 have been identified at sensitive booths.
For the election of the Ismailabad Municipal Committee president, 13 booths have been established by the district administration. Of total 13 booths, six booths have been identified as sensitive booths.
Kurukshetra Deputy Commissioner Neha Singh said, “All arrangements have been made to conduct elections in a smooth and transparent manner. There are 40 sensitive booths, and directions have been issued to deploy extra force on the sensitive booths to ensure peaceful elections.”
Meanwhile, general observer for the civic body election Pradeep Kumar has directed the officials to treat the civic body election as seriously as the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections. The officials must remain in action mode and take immediate action in case of any complaint related to distribution of liquor, money or any other temptation being given. No violation of model code of conduct will be tolerated at any cost, he said.
