The National Integration Camp, organised under the aegis of the National Service Scheme (NSS) at Kurukshetra University, commenced at Kurukshetra University on Tuesday. The camp, themed ‘Youth for my Bharat and youth for digital literacy' will conclude on November 17.
In the inaugural session, the chief guest, Vice-Chancellor Som Nath Sachdeva, said the camp provides an excellent opportunity for youth to learn discipline, leadership and the value of unity. Citing inspirational examples, he urged students to draw lessons from the lives of great personalities and internalise their values. He emphasised the importance of ‘Seva Bhav’ (spirit of service) and selfless giving, saying that “true happiness lies in helping others.” Referring to the NSS motto “Not Me, But You”, Prof Sachdeva urged every volunteer to make it a guiding principle in life.
Dean Student Welfare, Prof AR Chaudhri spoke about the historical and cultural significance of Kurukshetra and the origin of the Saraswati river.
Programme Coordinator Dr Anand outlined the camp schedule and welcomed delegates from across India, including Karnataka, Bihar, Maharashtra, Delhi, Assam and Haryana. The camp brought together 200 volunteers and 20 programme officers from 17 states to promote digital literacy, national unity and the spirit of service among youth.
