Sirsa, August 26
Gokul Setia, the grandson of former minister Lachhman Das Arora, held a meeting with his supporters on Sunday and announced his intention to contest the upcoming poll.
Setia, who lost by just 602 votes in the previous elections, expressed his gratitude towards Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) leader Abhay Chautala, stating that Chautala stood by him during the challenging times and never betrayed him.
Setia emphasised that his political strategy was not yet finalised and he had not decided which party to join or what his campaign slogan would be. He assured his supporters that he would maintain his integrity.
Reflecting on his previous defeat, Setia highlighted the close bond he shares with Chautala and affirmed his commitment to fighting for the farmers. He criticised those who have failed to support the farmers and promised to continue his battle against corruption, drugs, and other social issues in the region.
Setia also mentioned that despite not being given a ticket by the Setia family in the 2019 elections, he still entered the race as an Independent candidate. He hinted that the upcoming elections might see him competing again with the support of his supporters.
