Yamunanagar, February 18
The police have registered a case of murder against seven persons after a man was allegedly beaten up by some persons. He died in a hospital during treatment.
On the complaint of Sarita, a case was registered against Vinay Gupta, Srikant Gupta, Usha Gupta, Vikrant Gupta, Vandna Gupta, Prashant Agarwal and Shaifali Agrawal under Sections 302, 323 and 120-B of the IPC on February 17. She said she was married to Srikant Gupta of Amar Vihar colony in Yamunangar.
She alleged that after marriage, the family members of her in-laws started torturing and beating her for dowry. She said on her complaint, a case had been registered against her husband, father-in-law and other persons on charges of dowry demand in December last year. It is alleged that Sarita’s father, Om Prakash was beaten up by the family of Sarita’s in-laws. Om was admitted to a hospital in Yamunanagar where he died on Saturday.
SHO Jagdish Chander told mediapersons that a case had been registered against several persons on murder and other charges.
