Misuse of green belts in Faridabad

Green belts in almost all parts of Faridabad, designated a Smart City, have fallen victim to misuse, either through encroachment or by being utilised as vending spots for shops and eateries, or other commercial activities. Allowing liquor vends and ahatas to operate there has exacerbated the situation as spaces intended for environmental preservation and ecological balance have become sources of pollution and exploited by the land mafia. Given that all this requires political patronage, the government must enact stringent regulations to end this menace. Sumer Khatri, Faridabad
