She said following a tip-off, a special team, comprising PNDT Nodal Officer Dr Sandeep Kumar, Dr Aakriti Hooda, Dr Harshdeep and Vinod Kumar, was set up. The team carried out the raid with the help of the local police.

“As per the plan, on July 17, a decoy customer approached a local woman, who claimed herself to be a BAMS doctor. She agreed to conduct an illegal sex-determination test for Rs 55,000 and asked the decoy to bring the money to her residence,” said Dr Jai Mala.

She said the doctor asked the decoy to come on July 25.

“The doctor made arrangements for the ultrasound test at her clinic and a co-accused allegedly brought a portable ultrasound machine from Delhi to conduct the test. After the scan, both accused informed the decoy that she was carrying a girl and advised her to come next day for abortion, which would cost an additional Rs 25,000,” claimed the civil surgeon.

Dr Jai Mala stated that the doctor called her son, who arrived on a scooter, and they took the decoy to their residence. “The decoy customer gave a signal to the team waiting nearby, who promptly raided the premises. During a search, abortion-related instruments were recovered from the house,” she added.
