Shah praises Haryana CM Saini, says he's tough administrator
Praising Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, Union Home Minister Amit Shah described him as calm, composed and smiling, but a tough administrator with complete control over governance.
Addressing the gathering in a function organized in the Maharaja Agrasen Medical College (MAMC) in Agroha town of the district today, Shah recalled the electoral preparations of the BJP before the Assembly poll stating that he told Saini it was a tough challenge with only two and a half months to prepare. He said he had asked Saini to undertake 22 important public welfare initiatives which were completed within two and a half months.
Showcasing the growth of Haryana, he said when former CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda exited office, Haryana’s Budget was at Rs 36,000 crore, but under CM Saini, it had now crossed Rs 2 lakh crore.
Highlighting Haryana’s achievements, Shah said the state was the first to procure 24 crops at MSP.
Also, Haryana had ensured that all village heads (sarpanches) were literate and there was increased women’s participation in panchayats, he added. The Home Minister said medical infrastructure in the country had gone up with the allocation of Rs 65,000 crore for healthcare development and establishment of nearly 700 public health labs.
He pointed out that when PM Modi took office, there were only a few AIIMS, but today India has 24 such institutes with 1.15 lakh MBBS seats. CM Saini said with support from the Central government, Haryana was moving towards opening a medical college in every district. In the recent Budget, Rs 10,000 crore had been allocated for healthcare, with plans to establish multiple maternal care centres across various districts, he said.
Shah unveiled a statue of Maharaja Agrasen in a programme organised at Maharaja Agrasen Medical College. The Home Minister also inaugurated the newly constructed intensive care unit (ICU) block and laid the foundation stone for the PG hostel.
