Shahabad civic body vice-chief, son booked in harassment case
Kurukshetra, March 4
Following the directions of Haryana State Commission for Women, the Kurukshetra police have registered a case against the son of Gulshan Kawatra, Vice-Chairman of Shahabad Municipal Committee, for allegedly stalking and assaulting a girl of Shahabad.
The vice-chairman has been booked under criminal intimidation charges.
The mother of the victim has alleged that Gulshan’s son Shivam had been harassing her daughter for the past 8-10 months and also threatened her with dire consequences.
They (her daughter and Shivam) were friends but later, he started forcing her to meet him.
Despite raising the matter with his father Gulshan, Shivam kept following her daughter. The woman has alleged that they were threatened with dire consequences.
Then, the family stopped the girl from attending college in Shahabad and later, got the admission of the girl done in Delhi but Shivam allegedly reached Delhi too.
He allegedly snatched her bag and mobile, made her sit in a cab and attempted to take her to his friend’s flat.
“Later, when we talked to him over the phone, he fled from there and then, on our request, the cab driver dropped my daughter at a metro station in Noida. When we approached the police, we were told that the incident happened in Delhi and a case would be registered there,” the woman alleged.
Meanwhile, Gulshan Kawatra has denied the charges and said that it was a conspiracy to defame them. — TNS
