Union Minister and former Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar today said the closure of Shambhu border is a major issue, but some people in the guise of farmers, wanted to disturb the system and destabilise the established government.

Addressing the party workers in Ambala City, Khattar said, “The closure of Shambhu is a major issue. The general public and traders have been facing inconvenience due to its proximity. A plan was chalked out to reopen the border, but I want to tell you that the people sitting on the other side are not farmers. There are some people in the guise of farmers who want to disturb the system and destabilise the established government.”

“We were moving ahead but the matter was taken up in the courts. A committee constituted by the Supreme Court is finding the solution. We are hopeful that the matter will be resolved soon.”

Taking a jibe at Ambala City Congress candidate Nirmal Singh, Khattar said, “He is a candidate of Bhupinder Singh Hooda and not of Congress. Leaders and people of the Congress are vocal and have been claiming that they are winning but it has lost its ground.”

‘Cong running false narrative’

Hisar: Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said that the Congress was trying to misguide people by launching a false narrative that the Congress was set to form the next government in Haryana.

Addressing a gathering in Patel Nagar in Hisar, Khattar said that there were many reasons to bust the claim of the Congress (about its possibility to win the assembly polls). “The Congress has tried to tie up with some parties including AAP, etc. if they are confident, why are they trying to forge alliances. It means they are not sure,” he said. — TNS
