The project of rerouting of 66 KV power lines passing overhead in the residential area of HSVP Sector 3 here has been languishing in files despite being granted departmental approval in October last year.

“Though the demand of shifting the lines had initially been taken up 10 years ago, groundwork began in 2018 when the HaryanaVidyut Prasaran Nigam (HVPN) wrote to the HSVP to bear the cost of shifting the lines as plotting was done wrongly about 30 years ago,” claim Rattan Singh Rana, general secretary, Resident Welfare Federation of Sector 3.

The move came in response to an application submitted by the federation, claiming that the power line over 90 houses posed a danger to the lives of residents. A total of six lives have been lost due to electrocution caused by the overhead lines in the past 10 years,” said Subhash Lamba, president of the federation. “The estimate funds have been approved and the money is likely to be released soon by the head office,” said Ashwini Gaur, HSVP Executive Engineer. — TNS
