SHO caught for taking Rs 50K bribe in Kurukshetra, booked
Had demanded Rs 5 lakh from complainant’s relative
A team of the State vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau, Panchkula, on Thursday evening arrested a Station House Officer (SHO) for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000 in Kurukshetra.
The team has arrested SI Vinay Kumar, SHO, City Thanesar police station.
As per the bureau, a complaint against the SHO was received in which the complainant had alleged that the SHO had sought a bribe, and he was arrested while accepting an amount of Rs 50,000, near the Circuit House in Kurukshetra.
As per the information, the SHO had demanded Rs 5 lakh from the complainant’s relative in a civil suit matter, and the deal was fixed at Rs 3.50 lakh. Of the total, Rs 3 lakh were already given and Rs 50,000 was to be given on Thursday. The SHO was caught red-handed. A case has been registered against the SHO at the State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau, in Ambala.
The complainant, in his complaint filed with the State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau, Panchkula, alleged that the accused, Sub-Inspector Vinay Kumar, had received a notice from the court regarding the verification of the residential address of his relative, Sagar Singh, in a civil suit filed against Sagar. The accused then verified Sagar’s residential address and sent the report to the court.
Subsequently, the accused, Sub-Inspector pressured the complainant by threatening to arrest Sagar’s wife and father in the same case and demanded bribe in cash from him. Sagar is at present in Nepal. The complainant also recorded the conversation with the accused regarding the bribe demanded from him.
