SHO held for accepting bribe of Rs 30,000

A team of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Ambala, has arrested an inspector rank police officer for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 30,000 for letting the dumpers carrying soil cross area falling under his jurisdiction.

The ACB has arrested SHO Barara police station Gulshan Kumar while accepting a bribe of Rs 30,000 on Monday evening. He was posted as the SHO, Barara, since August 2023.

In his complaint to the ACB, the complainant stated that the SHO was seeking a monthly bribe to let their eight dumpers, carrying soil, pass from his area without issuing challans and impounding these vehicles. The SHO had sought Rs 2,000 per dumper and asked the complainant to give Rs 30,000 as bribe for the previous and current month.

As per the Anti-Corruption Bureau, as per the allegations, the dumpers carry soil from near Adhoya for Shamli road. The SHO was allegedly demanding a bribe of Rs 30,000 for letting the dumpers pass under the jurisdiction of Barara police station. Following the complaint, a team was formed and the SHO was caught red-handed. A case has been registered under the Prevention of corruption act.
