The food safety officer has sent a show-cause notice to the Gurugram restaurant, where five persons allegedly fell sick after having a mouth freshener that contained dry ice.
The restaurant has been asked to clarify within 15 days that why its licence should not be cancelled or suspended, in view of the aforementioned incident.
The notice issued by the food safety officer to Yana food (Laforestta café and restaurant), Sector 90, stated that it had come to the notice of the undersigned from various media channels that health hazards had occurred in your premises on March 2, due to serving/consumption of adulterated or unsafe food, in which five persons got hospitalised.
“You are hereby directed to provide a complete list of food article that was served on that day to the consumers and to inform why and how the incident took place. As evident from the incident, it appears that you are not complying with the hygienic conditions as proposed in the FSS Act and there has been serious negligence on your part regarding maintenance of food safety,” read the notice.
Despite several attempts the restaurant did not comment on the issue.
