Show of strength: Yamunanagar district sees several roadshows, rallies

Yamunanagar district today witnessed a number of roadshows and rallies as several prominent political leaders filed their nominations and organised these programmes as a show of strength.

Haryana Agriculture Minister and BJP leader Kanwar Pal Gujjar today filed his nomination in front of Returning Officer-cum-SDM of Jagadhri Sonu Ram.

Before filing his nomination, he held a roadshow in the Jagadhri Assembly constituency where he is contesting the Assembly election.

After holding the roadshow, he also held a rally in the new grain market, Jagadhri, which was addressed by Mahant Balaknath Yogi better known as Baba Balaknath, an MLA from Rajasthan.

Sitting Yamunanagar BJP MLA Ghanshyam Dass Arora also filed his nomination in front of Returning Officer-cum Additional Deputy Commissioner Ayush Sinha.

He held a roadshow yesterday. The two-time BJP MLA is contesting the Assembly election from the Yamunanagar Assembly constituency.

Sitting Sadhaura Congress MLA Renu Bala also today filed her nomination in front of Returning Officer-cum-Bilaspur SDM Jaspal Singh Gill.

Before filing her nomination, she organised an impressive public rally in Bilaspur town. Renu Bala is fighting election on Congress ticket from the reserved Sadhaura Assembly segment of the district.

Brijpal Chhappar, who recently left the Congress party after being denied a ticket, today filed his nomination to Returning Officer-cum-Bilaspur SDM.

After leaving the Congress, he joined the BSP and the INLD-BSP alliance fielded him as its candidate from the Sadhaura Assembly constituency. Before filing his nomination, he held a massive roadshow, which passed through several parts of the Sadhaura Assembly segment.

Former Radaur MLA and BJP leader Shyam Singh Rana, who is contesting in the election on the BJP ticket from the Radaur Assembly constituency, also filed his nomination today.

During the filing of nomination, Minister of Law and Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal was also present. Similarly, after holding a roadshow, sitting Radaur Congress MLA Bishan Lal Saini also filed his nomination today in Radaur and handed it over to Returning Officer-cum-SDM Jai Prakash.

He is contesting on the Congress ticket from the Radaur Assembly constituency.

“Political leaders tried to display their strength by holding massive programmes, including roadshows and public meetings before filing their nomination papers. But, it remains to be seen whether this crowd will convert into votes or not?” said a political observer.

Several prominent political leaders, including Agriculture Minister Kanwar Pal Gujjar, sitting Yamunanagar MLA Ghanshyam Dass Arora, sitting Sadhaura MLA Renu Bala, INLD-BSP alliance candidate from Sadhaura Brijpal Chhappar, sitting Radaur MLA Bishan Lal Saini and former BJP MLA Shyam Singh Rana filed their nominations
