Sadhaura: Showroom owner gets Rs 2 crore extortion threat
An owner of a marble and tiles showroom allegedly received an extortion threat of Rs 2 crore on the name of a gangster. The miscreants warned businessman of dire consequences if amount was not paid, leaving him in a state of fear and distress.
According to information, two masked bike riders gave a slip to an employee of the showroom in Sadhaura town of Yamunanagar district on Friday night.
When miscreants arrived, owner’s son was inside showroom and the employee was outside. He was preparing to close the showroom. Sources said name of the gangster, a foreign cellphone number and an amount of Rs 2 crore was written on the slip. After giving the slip, the miscreants reportedly fired a shot before leaving the spot to spread terror. The incident was captured in footage of the CCTV cameras installed outside showroom.
As per available information, after receiving information, the police reached the spot and initiated probe into the matter. Rohtash Kumar, Station House Officer, (SHO) Sadhaura police station, said they had received a complaint from the businessman. The SHO said the police were probing the complaint and checking CCTV footage of the cameras installed in the area to find clues about the assailants.
