The Haryana Sikh Ekta Dal has announced that a congregation of the community members would be organised in Karnal on September 8. Sikh leaders, including Giani Raghubir Singh, Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib; Giani Harpreet Singh, Jathedar of Takht Sri Damdama Sahib; and Giani Sultan Singh, Jathedar of Takht Sri Kesgarh Saheb; would grace the event. Invitations had also been extended to the Jathedars of Takht Sri Hazur Saheb and Takht Sri Patna Saheb. Besides, renowned Sikh historian Dr Sukhpreet Singh Udhoke and other influential Sikh personalities would attend the event.

The Dal demanded immediate elections to the Haryana Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee, proper representation of the Sikhs in the Legislative Assembly and the promotion of the Punjabi language.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.

The Tribune, the largest selling English daily in North India, publishes news and views without any bias or prejudice of any kind. Restraint and moderation, rather than agitational language and partisanship, are the hallmarks of the newspaper. It is an independent newspaper in the real sense of the term.

The Tribune has two sister publications, Punjabi Tribune (in Punjabi) and Dainik Tribune (in Hindi).
