Since Haryana was established, Lachhman Das Arora fought a total of 10 Assembly elections from Sirsa, winning five of these. In 1968, he also contested the elections as an independent but did not win. Despite his losses, he served as the Home Minister and Industries Minister in the Haryana Government.

The Sirsa seat has been a battleground for several significant political personalities. In the 1977 Assembly elections, the Janata Party fielded Comrade Shankar Lal from Sirsa. Shankar Lal was actively involved in various movements and worked as a peon in the market committee. Due to the hostility from big landlords, he resigned from his job. Even after winning the election, he continued to travel around on a rickshaw. Other influential figures who have represented Sirsa include Prem Singh, Bhajan Lal Kamboj and Gopal Kanda, each leaving their mark on the region’s political fabric. Gopal Kanda, the most recent winner in 2019, continues the tradition of strong leadership in the constituency.
