The Sirsa Club elections will be held on December 10. Voting will take place from 10 am to 5 pm and counting will start at 5:30 pm and the results announced will be announced soon after.
The nomination process has been opened again. On December 3 and 4, the nomination forms will be available from 10 am to 4 pm, and candidates can submit their forms until 5 pm on both days.
Returning Officer Shantilal Singla said the list of valid nominations would be published at 7 pm on December 4. Candidates can withdraw their nominations on December 5 from 10 am to 2.30 pm. The final list of candidates will be posted at 4 pm the same day.
Singla added that the voter list had been updated as per the district registrar’s orders and displayed on the notice board. A total of 950 members are eligible to vote.
Assistant Returning Officer Abhishek Jain said the election was a friendly contest and members were participating in a positive way.
On December 10, the votes would be cast for the posts of secretary, joint secretary, senior vice-president, vice-president and treasurer. The candidates have been campaigning for several days, and the club has seen high activity around the elections.
The Sirsa Club is divided into two groups. The district Deputy Commissioner is the club’s ex-officio president, and there is often competition between the secretary and vice-president groups over influence. The elections are held once every three years, and this year the dispute between the two groups even reached the High Court.
