Sirsa cops get training on eSakshya App, new legal procedures
In a training session held at the CDLU Auditorium on Sunday, Sirsa police officials and investigators were introduced to the ESakshya App. The session, led by Superintendent of Police Vikrant Bhushan, aimed at familiarising officials with new legal requirements and the use of digital tools in investigations.
Bhushan emphasised the importance of following the new laws which mandated capturing time-stamped videos at crime scenes and uploading them to the eSakshya App. He explained that these videos would serve as official records in court, ensuring a smooth process during trials. "Only videos submitted through this App will be accepted in court," Bhushan stated, adding that the App would keep these recordings as permanent evidence, accessible to the courts at any time.
The SP also discussed the digitalisation of legal processes. Under new regulations, summons and warrants can now be sent via e-mail, WhatsApp or other digital platforms. If no error message is received when sending a summon, it will be considered effectively served. This change is expected to speed up the legal process and reduce delays in summons delivery, benefiting timely court decisions.
In his address, Bhushan encouraged officials to stay updated with modern technology and adapt to these changes. He also instructed them to ensure the timely delivery of summons and warrants, which would help witnesses appear in court on time and facilitate faster trials.
Additionally, he emphasised that police staff must be diligent in following guidelines, and any negligence would not be tolerated. ASP Uttam Pehal, DSP Sanjeev Balhara, DSP Subhash Chand, and all local police station heads were also present at the meeting. This initiative is part of the police department's efforts to modernise operations and ensure more efficient, transparent, and swift justice.
