The police emphasised that while they continued taking action against drug traffickers, they were also working to keep the youth away from drugs by engaging them in sports activities and spreading awareness.

Superintendent of Police Vikrant Bhushan said the district police had formed four teams of police personnel to play handball, volleyball, kabaddi, and cricket. These teams were actively participating in sports events with youth in both rural and urban areas, promoting the message of staying away from drugs. Bhushan stated that the initiative was yielding positive results, with the youth increasingly turning towards education and sports.

He further explained that the district police, with the help of village panchayats and residents, was working to develop sports grounds in villages, setting an example of community service.

As part of the drug awareness campaign, the police, in collaboration with panchayats and the public, had already declared 148 villages and 10 wards in Sirsa and Ellenabad as drug-free.

Regular reviews were being conducted to ensure these areas remained drug-free. Bhushan also highlighted that 96 village panchayats had put up drug-free boards in their areas. He urged the public to report any drug-related activities to the police, ensuring strict legal action. Additionally, if anyone knew of a youth struggling with addiction, they were encouraged to inform the police so that the individual could receive treatment and reintegrate in society.
